Upholstered sofas, armchairs and office chairs wrapped and tagged for POPs waste collectionSVC-05

POPs waste disposal

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are chemicals, such as some flame retardants, that do not break down and build up in the environment. Waste upholstered seating can contain them, so it must be kept separate and destroyed rather than landfilled or recycled.

  • Sofas, armchairs, sofa beds and footstools
  • Office chairs and upholstered dining chairs
  • Kept intact and separate from other waste
  • Sent for destruction by high-temperature incineration

Our fridge recycling process

Efficient, compliant and environmentally responsible.

We handle the compliance, so you don't have to. If the Environment Agency asks, you'll have the paperwork to answer.

  1. Stage 1 of 4

    Collection arranged

Send us your equipment details and we book a collection at a time that suits your business, including out of hours.

  2. Stage 2 of 4

    Safe removal

Our licensed crew de-commissions and removes each unit, tags it, and you sign the Hazardous Waste Consignment Note.

  3. Stage 3 of 4

    Treatment by our trusted partner

We deliver your waste to our trusted, fully permitted treatment partner, where refrigerant gases and oils are recovered, foam is treated to capture blowing agents, and metals and plastics are recycled.

  4. Stage 4 of 4

    Compliance paperwork

You receive a certificate listing every unit, its treatment and the consignment note reference, ready for your audit file.

Proof, not promises

The certificate is what you're really paying for.

Anyone can take your waste away. What matters when an auditor, landlord or the Environment Agency asks is being able to show exactly what happened to it. Every WEEE Want Your Waste collection ends with a certificate like this one.

  • Unique certificate number and collection address
  • Every unit tagged, matched to what was collected
  • Hazardous Waste Consignment Note reference
  • Treatment method and refrigerant recovery recorded
  • Signed by the operator at the treatment plant

FAQ

Common questions

Where do you collect from?

We are based in Buckinghamshire and collect from businesses nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. Sites in and around Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and London can often be booked within a few days, and we plan regular routes to cover the rest of the country.

What is WEEE waste?

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, meaning anything with a plug, battery or cable that has reached the end of its life. In the UK, businesses are responsible for making sure it is passed to someone authorised to handle it, with the right paperwork.

Why are fridges and freezers treated differently?

Cooling appliances contain refrigerant gases and insulating foams that can harm the ozone layer, so they are classed as hazardous waste. They cannot go in a skip or general waste. We collect them under a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note and take them to a specialist plant where the gases are recovered before the metal and plastic are recycled.

Do you treat the waste yourselves?

We handle the collection, transport and paperwork, and much of the treatment is carried out by a trusted partner. They are a fully permitted treatment facility we have worked with closely, so every item is still traced from your site to final recycling, and your certificate names the facility used.

What paperwork will I receive?

A Waste Transfer Note is signed at collection. Once your items have been destroyed or recycled, we send a Certificate of Destruction showing seal numbers, dates and, for IT equipment, asset serial numbers.

Can you remove cold room panels?

Yes. We collect both ODS and non-ODS insulation panels and can dismantle the cold room for you. The panels go for specialist treatment so the blowing agents in the foam are captured.

Do you offer regular collections?

Yes. Landlords, housing providers and multi-site retailers can book scheduled collections, or we can arrange one-off pickups for refits and clear-outs.

Is there a minimum collection size?

No. We collect everything from a single fridge to full store refits. Share how many units you have on the quote form and we will recommend the most cost-effective option.
